"Be Better than Your Competition: How to Differentiate Yourself in Today’s Recruiting and Sales Landscape"
Presented by John Ruffini, HealthTrust Workforce Solutions

This session equips recruiters with actionable strategies to meaningfully differentiate themselves from the competition — not by what they do, but by how they do it.

We will explore key areas where top recruiters distinguish themselves:

  • Canvassing Skills (Targeted Recruiting and Sales): Proactively go where the candidates are — instead of waiting for them to come to you. Balance immediate placement needs with long-term pipeline development.
  • Communication Mastery: Know not just when and how often to communicate, but which channels and approaches resonate most. Tailor your messaging for maximum impact and engagement.
  • Relationship Building: See candidates and clients as people first, not just transactions. Cultivate a genuine curiosity to uncover true needs turning every conversation into an opportunity to add value. Ask the right questions so thoroughly that you rarely need to “sell.”
  • Personal Branding: Ensure your online and offline presence communicates your unique value clearly and consistently. Create an impression that lasts — making you the recruiter candidates and clients remember.

This session also ties these methods to reducing one of the biggest frustrations in recruiting: candidate ghosting.

John Ruffini is the Vice President of Professional Development for HealthTrust Workforce Solutions – an industry leader in the Healthcare Staffing space. He and his team focus on training and development for the entire organization in an effort to help employees be the best they can be at whatever role they are playing within the company. John’s passion is recruiting and every recruiter hired at HealthTrust goes through a two-week boot camp training he developed that has improved new hire ramp-up time by 30%. John started on a perm desk and developed a knack (or sickness!) for starting branches from scratch in new markets or rebuilding struggling ones. While he has been in the recruiting and staffing industry for 30 years and is passionate about training, mentoring, and developing individual contributors and managers.
