"The State of Cannabis in the State of New Jersey:
What Everyone Needs to Know About the Post-Prohibition Era"
Presented by Michael McQueeny
Foley Hoag LLP

Though New Jersey legalized medical cannabis over a decade ago, the recent Referendum is poised to drastically expand the availability of cannabis, as well as the respective rights and remedies of citizens lawfully possessing it, in the Garden State. Who may purchase what, and consume where, and on whose time? These are all questions that have been debated and negotiated over the last several years in great detail, ultimately yielding the current statutes providing a host of different protections and defenses for individuals as well as businesses in the State of New Jersey. And though this is an emerging area of the law, ignorance will certainly be no excuse, and our program is designed to provide all participants a working knowledge of the legal framework of both medical and adult-use cannabis.

As counsel in Foley Hoag's Cannabis practice, Michael McQueeny advises businesses, including investors, processors, distributors, retailers and cultivators, on the regulation of the cannabis and CBD industry, with a specific focus on New Jersey and New York.

Mike has considerable experience counseling clients regarding licensing of cannabis and CBD-related entities and advising them on federal and state legislation, regulations and local laws governing the growth, processing, sale and use of cannabis. He has also advised several of the larger multi-state operators, and has spoken widely on topics affecting the industry on panels, in publications, and on television.

Mike has frequently been consulted as a point person on regulatory development and insight for New Jersey media outlets including Cheddar TV, ROI-NJ, the State-Ledger, NJ Cannabis Insider, and the New Jersey Law Journal.
