NJSA's Members-Only Staffing University is a series of workshop presentations will focus on the operational issues that challenge all staffing firms but yet impact your ability to be successful. These presentations are designed to provide important information in a concise, flexible and timely manner – to make best use of your staff’s time and talents. The sessions will be two hours in length with a top-notch speaker followed by an opportunity to network with your peers.

The workshop will focus on background checks specifically for staffing companies. The high demand for temporary and contract labor combined with the time constraints, low employment rate, and increased competition magnify the challenges of background checks for all staffing companies. Even more crucial to the process is making sure you are staying in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act as well as with all of the different individual state laws. This program will cover having policies in place with your clients, what the FCRA states to include in those policies and the procedures to be followed, when to do a background check, your obligations as a staffing company before and after the background check, and some specific issues and situations when the next step is not always clear as to what you should do.

Fred Amicucci is the Director of Operations for DataScreening. DataScreening is a pre-employment screening company that has been doing background checks for over 22 years. Fred helps lead an internal compliance team as well as several support teams for DataScreening that focuses on the staffing industry designed to help companies stay in compliance as well as develop the most efficient workflow.
